Life After Traveling
3/10/2020
I came home from Ukraine in mid-December. Leaving the family and friends I created there hurt me deeply, but it was time. Mostly because the Ukrainian government said so... but also because it has been a while since I allowed myself some stability at home.
I had a second surgery on December 31st. I share so much about CRPS that it seems silly to not have posted about anything that took place in 2019 (2 surgeries to try and heal), but I'm just not ready. Posting about this journey forces me to re-live it.
I want to help people; I want to share resources.
I need to consider my mental health, though, and when things are too recent, I experience some PTSD in sharing. I go back to that place of feeling sick and trapped, and it affects me for several days. I have to work hard to pull my brain out of it. So I will share publicly one day. Until then, as always, I will answer any questions if asked.

But! I am now settled in Salt Lake for a year. I have a fantastic position as an Americorps volunteer, and I am posted at an organization very close to my heart working with refugees.
My day-to-day is in an office and not as fun to share as my overseas work, but I do get some incredible opportunities. For instance, a couple of weeks ago, I got to spend part of my workday helping with pregnant goats! Enjoy some of my selfie work from that day... and I'll work on finding the strength to share more.

Yes, my hair is being eaten in that last picture. These animals have no boundaries, but they are surprisingly cute.
